The Tennessee Valley Authority is known for supplying power to much of the southeastern region.

To earlier generations, they are also known for flooding areas of the Tennessee Valley when they built their dams in the early 20th century.

Today, they are also known (not well enough known) as the largest polluter of the area, their coal-burning plants spewing tons of sulfur dioxide into the Great Smoky Mountains (incidentally, the US’s most polluted national park).
