Mystery tree

It started as a tiny shrub in front of our house; it is now 10 feet tall and flowering. Yet still, no one seems to know what it is.

Update: It’s a Scotch Broom. Thanks to the anonymous e-mailer who clued me in on this. It’s a big ol’ weed. It does not like the new house; nor does it like the dry summer we had around here.
